Place 2 Be
Place2Be is a children’s mental health charity that provides counselling and mental health support and training in UK schools.
Heathmere Primary School works in partnership with Place2Be and they work inside the school to improve the emotional well-being of children, their families and the whole school community, through a range of activities including play therapy, consultation and classroom support.
Place2Talk
Place2Talk is a self-referral service that takes place during the lunch-break on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays. Children can request a 15 minute session with the School Project Manager, where they can bring anything that’s on their mind. They are made aware that any concerns arising about their safety or well-being will be shared with their parents and appropriate members if school staff, but that other wise what they bring can stay private. They can choose to come on their own or with up to two friends. This service is open to all children whose parents have given consent for them to attend.
Place2Be individual sessions
There are times when children feel particularly sad, confused, scared or angry, due to difficult life situations such as separation, illness or bereavement. Some may become withdrawn; others may become more demanding or challenging in their behaviour. That is when having Place2Be in school is especially helpful. There is a special Place2Be room, a safe space, where children can express themselves through talking, creative work and place in the presence of a Place2Be counsellor. This is a regular support that can last for anything from 10 weeks up to a whole academic year. The School Project Manager supervises this work and whole class support can also be offered in consultation with the school.
Our School Project Manager is Claudia Maschi. Her working days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. To find out more about the services that Place2Be can provide, please visit www.place2be.org.uk or contact Claudia via the school office or on Claudia.Maschi@place2be.org.uk.
